Loving-Kindness Meditation (Buddhist) - Inner Void from Vedha Sri

Loving-Kindness Love, compassion, and kindness towards oneself and others are all qualities that can be developed through meditation.


Loving-Kindness Meditation is a style of Buddhist meditation that involves growing feelings of love, kindness, and compassion towards oneself as well as others. It is also known as Metta Meditation. This practise has its origins in the Theravada school of Buddhism but has since gained traction in a great number of other schools of Buddhism as well as in practises of mindfulness that are not affiliated with Buddhism.


The intention behind loving-kindness The purpose of meditation is to train one's mind to be one of unbounded compassion and love, both for oneself and for others. It entails concentrating on particular phrases or mantras, typically starting with oneself and expanding to include others in a manner that is progressively more complicated and inclusive.





Here is a basic Loving-Kindness Meditation practice:


1. Find a position that allows you to sit comfortably and then close your eyes.

2. In order to calm both your body and your mind, take a few long, slow breaths.

3. To get started, begin by saying the following lines to yourself in a quiet voice, being as sincere and earnest as possible: "May I be happy. May I be healthy. May I be safe. May I live with ease."

4. Picture yourself in a state of contentment, good health, complete safety, and uncomplicated ease.

5. When you feel that you are ready, move on to extending these similar desires to others, beginning with a loved one, then a friend, then a neutral person, and eventually to all beings.


The expressions that are utilised in Loving-Kindness. The practise of meditation can seem very different depending on the tradition or the person doing it. It's possible that some people will opt to employ expressions that are in line with their own personal ideals or beliefs. It is essential to approach the activity with a spirit of openness, curiosity, and non-judgment in order to get the most out of it.
